Description of the second year summer program |
By virtue of our size and hands-on approach in dealing with our clients’ legal and business issues, law students are exposed to all elements of complex matters, transactions and cases. You will participate in drafting, research, negotiation and client communication, and be encouraged to take on a meaningful role interacting directly with our lawyers and clients.
From day one, you will be mentored and coached so that you will have the confidence that comes from knowing you have the support and feedback you need to excel. Collegiality and comradery among colleagues is a cornerstone of our firm’s culture. The personal, approachable nature of our firm is enhanced by regular socials and an open door policy to create a friendly and caring environment. You will be invited to participate in the active social life of our firm and that of our Associates’ committee, so that you can build relationships and discover for yourself that Fogler, Rubinoff LLP is more than just a law firm. |

Description of articling program |
Our articling program is designed to provide students with the tools they need to enhance their skills. Workshops on a variety of legal issues and areas of specialization are designed to reflect real-life situations and provide practical plans of action in approaching legal problems and practice management. As well, our four general practice rotations expose articling students to each of our main areas of practice, including:
•Business Law (corporate/commercial, tax, wills and estates) •Securities Law •Litigation and Dispute Resolution •Commercial Real Estate, and Banking and Financial Services Our students are encouraged to become actively involved in all aspects related to our clients’ matters. By virtue of our size and hands-on approach in dealing with our clients’ legal and business issues, our students are exposed to all elements of complex matters, transactions and cases. During your articles, you will interact directly with our clients and lawyers in the resolution of client matters - a level of exposure unique to our firm. By working hand-in-hand with associates and partners, articling students gain an appreciation of day-to-day life at the firm and are exposed to a variety of practices. Each student is assigned a mentor as an additional dedicated resource whose role is to facilitate their professional training, skills development and assist with the integration into the firm. We also host a variety of social events to give you the opportunity to get to know us outside of the office. Past events have included weekly breakfasts, informal evening socials, our annual Summer Event, December Holiday Party, volleyball tournaments and other student and associate specific activities. As one of our students, you will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in all of the firm's social programs to enhance your experience. It is anticipated that students will complete the Barrister and Solicitor Exams required by the LSO prior to commencing their articles with us in early August. |
