Please describe your diversity programs and initiatives In addition to participating in city specific 1L diversity programs, the Firm also hires diverse 1Ls through the Bernard Lee Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholars Program. Additionally, Cozen O'Connor is a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) and selects an attorney to participate in the year-long LCLD Fellow Program.

In 2019, Cozen O'Connor became a signatory firm to Mansfield 3.0, a pioneering initiative that helps law firms ensure a diverse candidate pool for significant leadership positions and/or appointments. The Mansfield Rule 3.0 is the third generation of the award-winning idea from the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon hosted by Diversity Lab in collaboration with Bloomberg Law and Stanford Law School. The firm became Mansfield 4.0 Certified in September 2020 and achieved Mansfield Certification Plus status in 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively. Mansfield Certification Plus is the highest designation that a law firm can receive from Diversity Lab. On October 10, 2023, Diversity Lab announced that Cozen O’Connor achieved Mansfield 2022-2023 Certification. The firm also signed on for the Diversity Lab’s Mansfield 2023-2024 Certification process for 2024. Annual recertification evinces our ongoing commitment to the Mansfield mission.

The firm has formalized several Attorney Resource Groups to provide additional support and resources, including Asian Attorneys, Black Attorneys, Veteran Attorneys, Attorneys with Disabilities, Hispanic/Latino/Latina Attorneys, and LGBTQ+ Attorneys groups. These groups provide an opportunity for attorneys with shared or similar experiences, backgrounds, and commitment to connect, foster mentorship, and develop professional internal and external support networks. The Attorney Resource Groups also work together with the DE&I Committee to guide the firm in identifying strategies that support inclusion efforts while fostering a stronger sense of community firmwide.

Most recently, Cozen O’Connor became a signatory to Diversity Lab’s Disability Inclusion Commitments. The Disability Inclusion Commitments are a list of 10 actions – recommended by the Disability Inclusion Advisory Group – for firms and legal departments to take to build and sustain a culture of inclusion for people with disabilities. As such, the firm has committed to: create opportunities for everyone in the firm to discuss their ideas and perspectives on inclusive actions and language related to disabilities.
